sport to watch

My favorite sport to watch is skiing. I don’t know about this sport well and I watched skiing competition on TV, during Vancouver Olympic. I didn’t know why but I was really excited to watch it. I watched ladies' moguls mainly. I don’t remember about detail, but it was hot and I couldn't turn the TV off. I couldn't take my eyes off the competition.
A Japanese skiing player, Aiko Kamimura got 4th place then. After the competition at the interview, she said she did her best. But she looked really chagrined at her defeat and said she got 5th place in the preliminary match but she got 4th in this time. She was impatient about she got won only 1 rank each time. Then I was impressed with her and I wish she will win next time. But I don’t want to try moguls because it looked dangerous.

movie star

My favorite movie star is Richard Gere. His real name is Richard Tiffany Gere. He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born on 1949. The first time I saw him was in the movie, pretty woman. He acted Edward in this movie, and he was actually dandy. My favorite scene is that Edward hit a man to protect his lover Vivian. In the last scene he went to see her with a bouquet in his mouth.
And he was in shall we dance also. The scene he is dancing with dressed up is really nice. He looks so fascinating with a bouquet.
If he were my dad, I would have been proud of him and boasted to my all friends.

Minnesota.

This is an essay i wrote in Minnesota.

I had good experiences here in Minnesota. I have never been abroad before this program. So everything was new for me. I have enjoyed and learned a lot of things for a month.
We had ESL everyday with Rachel. On the first day, her English was very fast so I didn't get what she was saying. I was depressed. But I am getting to understand it day by day. We talked about interesting topics each day, and I got knowledge of English and information about Minnesota. We enjoyed some field trips also. Canoe trip was especially fun. My host mother Penny joined us. We brought 2 water guns and we were excited to shoot my friends. After canoeing, we had a skit party. Our skit was about a Queen's important paper. I had a fun with Maiko, Chinami, Sayano, and Yuya.

And I had a good time with Penny. We went to Anoka county fair, Japanese restaurant, a cabin, and enjoyed shopping together. She was really kind to me. when she doesn't understand what I said, she says ''Say again?" gently. She always listened to me patiently. And the home was very comfortable. Her 2 cats, Angel and Ollie are so cute and friendly. I feel like I want to stay longer. And my friend Jenna, lives in Penny's basement is funny girl. I don't have sister so she's like my real sister. I like to shop with Jenna.
I met so many people here. Sometimes it made me confused. I couldn't talk with them well. But this experience motivated me to study more. I'll never forget this precious time. I am thankful to everybody I met. I love you!

Essay3: Brassed off (Burasu!)

This is a story of miners who belonged to a band named “Grimley Colliery Band”, in
Yorkshire, England. They faced a crisis of closedown of the coal mine. At that time in
England, many coal mines were closed and a lot of workers lost their jobs. Phil, one of
the miners, lived with his wife and children. They were so poor and his wife said to him
“Quit your band.” But he didn’t want to do that.
A woman, Gloria, moved to this town. She was born in this town so she was coming
back there. She had a flugel horn and she was a player. The landlady said to her “Do not
play it at midnight.” And she said “Why don’t you practice at the Grimley Colliery
Band? Do you know?” Gloria knew about the band.
Then the practice was not good because all of them were worried about whether the
mine would closedown or not. They didn’t feel like playing well. But the conductor
Danny was still enthusiastic about music. Suddenly Gloria came into the practice room.
She said she wanted to play with them. At first Danny refused to let her join but after
he listened to her playing, he allowed her to join. Her playing was great and all the
other players were surprised at her. But in fact Gloria was in the company. That means
she is not on the miners' side. In spite of this fact, she really liked the band, and loved
Andy, one of the players.
Finally the mine was closed and the miners got angry at the company, and Gloria.
She was betrayed by the company. Her boss said that it was decided the mine was
supposed to close 2 years ago. She was disappointed and quit her job. She was so sorry
to the miners.
At that time Danny became ill and went into the hospital. He escaped death. The
band couldn’t continue to play, but they still have the finals. Each player lost their job
as a miner, so it was hard for them to play on the stage again. However Gloria helped
the band and they did play on the finals. And they won!
This story is filled with a lot of love, at the ending. It is a good English movie. And it was
really difficult to catch what they are saying because of British English. I heard “bloody”
so many times in this movie.
